Charming Duck Pond Fun Fold

I suddenly realized that the Charming Duck Pond bundle and everything that went with it was on the Last Chance List and I had never played with mine, though I had it for months! And I had loved the colors in it and the myriad of cards others had made, so it was time to take it out of the wrapping and get going. Later this week, come back to my blog, as I made several other cards using this bundle. I find the ducks in their ponds with their babies so adorable, so I had to start by using one of those pieces of DSP.

I also love the pieces of DSP with the carp on them, but that's for another card.

I am calling this card a spotlight flap card. In a usual spotlight card you die cut out a portion of the card and raise it up on Dimensionals. On this card you have the added bonus that the spotlight area flaps open too!

Let's make this card! Gather your supplies:

1. Pretty Peacock cardstock --Card base 8 1/2" by 5 1/2" scored at 4 1/4" and folded in half on the score line. Second piece 3 1/2" by 1" scored on the long side at 1". 2 pieces cut from the "dot-dash" Spotlight on Nature dies
2. Lily Pond Land DSP--4" by 5 1/4". Cut the ducks out using the largest Stylish Shapes circle. Use the smallest Stylish Shape solid circle to cut out a duck from a different piece of DSP
3.Basic White cardstock--4" by 5 1/4" for the inside, 1/2" scrap for the sentiment
4. Granny Apple Green cardstock--cut the rushes out using the Charming Duck Pond dies
5. Stamp sets--Charming Duck Pond
6. Dies-- Charming Duck Pond, Spotlight on Nature, Stylish Shapes
7. Ink--Peach Pie and Granny Apple Green
8. Adhesive-Backed Dappled Dots
9. Basic supplies--Bone folder, Paper Snips, adhesive (I like Multipurpose Glue and Seal+), Paper Trimmer, Stamp, Cut and Emboss Machine, Take Your Pick Tool,  Piercing Mat or Glass Mat Studio, Regular Dimensionals

Start by die cutting out the ducks from the piece of DSP using the largest Stylish Shapes dies--just make sure when you cut down the DSP to 4" by 5 1/4" that you leave the ducks where you want them on the page. Attach the 4" by 5 1/4" piece of DSP to the front of the folded card base. Mount the DSP circle on one of the Pretty Peacock circles.

Next you are going to attach the circles to the 1" by 3 1/2" piece of Pretty Peacock. Put some Multipurpose Glue on the longer end of the paper (not the end with the score line). Make sure you hold the circle over where it came out of the DSP as you attach the 1" piece. Then attach the other end to the inside of the card below. You may have to adjust the scored area to make sure the circle aligns with the front of the card. Attach the other Pretty Peacock circle to the back (front side facing this way below), aligning the cut outs. If this sounds confusing, watch my Facebook Live below.

Let's stamp the inside Basis White piece now. Using Granny Apple Green ink, stamp the rushes. Use Peach Pie ink to stamp the top of the rushes, making sure they align with the tiny green lines on the top of them. Stamp the inside sentiment in Peach Pie also. Attach this to the inside of the card. Stamp the front sentiment on the 1/2" piece of Basic White and slant cut the ends.

Cut out one of the ducks from another piece of DSP and attach it to the front of the card using Dimensionals.

Close up the flap and let's decorate the front. Add the sentiment using Dimensionals. Attach the 2 Granny Green rushes to the circle--just put your adhesive on the part that will attach to the circle.
Add 2 large and 1 small Pretty in Pink Adhesive-Backed Dappled Dots and you are done.
