Purple Posy meets Butterfly Brilliance

Purple Posy meets Butterfly Brilliance

I'm already getting nostalgic for the 2019-21 In Colors and they haven't even gone away yet! I decided to make this card to show you a new technique to make your own pearlized paper in any color you want as well as to remind us all that these In Colors will be going away soon. I don't think the pictures here do it justice, but that butterfly is beautiful as it shimmers!

I know that the Annual Catalog SAYS it is through May 3rd, but as soon as they announce on this Wednesday, March 24th what is retiring from the Annual Catalog, everything retiring is usually "while supplies last" and the items that tend to go first are the In Color ones. So take today to go through your cardstock and ink for the 2019-21 In Colors, as well as the Annual Catalog, and make sure you won't be one of those people who miss out on something they want to order. Let me know if you need any help with this.

Supplies for this card:
      1. Purple Posy cardstock cut 8 1/2 by 5 1/2" scored on the long side at 4 1/4" (#150881)2 and a scrap for the sentiment
      2.Gorgeous Grape cardstock (#1146987) cut 5 by 3 3/4"
      3. Hydrangea Hill  DSP (#154570) cut 4 7/8 by 3 5/8"
      4.Whisper White/Basic White cut 5 by 3 3/4" for the inside
      5. Stamp sets--Arrange a Wreath (#152587),  A Wish for Everything (#149320), Hydrangea Haven (#154470)
      6. Pastel Pearls (#154571)
      7. Frost White Shimmer paint (#147046)
      8. Brilliant Wings Dies (#155523), Stitched so Sweetly Dies (#151690)
      9. Gorgeous Grape ink (#147099)
10.Basic supplies--scissors, bone folders, Dimensionals, Multipurpose Liquid Glue, Piercing Mat, Foam Adhesive Strips (#141825), Blending Brush (#153611)

Start by making this butterfly. Take your Gorgeous Grape piece and we are going to use the center of it (as it won't show when the card is done) to make our butterfly. Shake your Shimmer paint and put a dollop on a block. Use your Blending Brush to smoosh it out a bit and then use circular motions to put it evenly on the center of your Gorgeous Grape Cardstock. For more on how to do this, watch my Facebook Live below. Let it dry and then use one of the butterfly dies to cut it out.

Using Gorgeous Grape ink and the Arrange a Wreath "Happy Easter" sentiment, stamp on the Purple Posy Stitched so Sweetly piece that you have cut out.  This die set is one of my favorite in the Annual Catalog--if it doesn't carry over to next year you MUST buy it now.

Now let's stamp the inside Whisper White piece. The sentiment is from A Wish For Everything stamp set--I'd be surprised if this carries over to the new catalog as it has already carried over once, but we will find out on 3/24. The little flowers in the corner are from the Hydrangea Haven stamp set.

Let's put the whole card together now. Fold your Purple Posy card base in half and adhere the inside piece. Glue the Gorgeous Grape piece to the card base and then the Hydrangea Haven DSP on top of that. Using Dimensionals, attach the sentiment piece. Using Foam Adhesive Strips (or some mini Dimensionals) attach the butterfly and fluff up it's wings.

Scatter some of the Pastel Pearls (either purple color or the Seaside Spray ones will work) on the front. Using an odd number is usually most pleasing to the eye, but you do whatever pleases you.
