Under My Umbrella--Rainy day fun

I live in what is usually sunny San Diego but today it's been raining most of the day, which is what inspired this card. We always need rain here, so this is a good thing, and as crafters, rain just means a good excuse to stay inside and craft! Am I right?

The other thing that inspired this card is I wanted to go back to the Annual Catalog and use something from there as I realized we only have another 7 weeks left of this catalog before over half of what is in it (and we won't know what until 3/24) goes bye-bye. And I hadn't really played with this stamps set much. And the third reason to make this card is that in 7 weeks also all the 2019-2020 In Colors go away also, which includes this lovely Seaside Spray cardstock. So get them now while you still can!

Here's a close up of the card:

The supplies you will need for this card are:

  1. Magenta Madness cardstock cut 8 1/2 by 5 1/2" scored on the long side at 4 1/4" (#153080)
  2. Basic Black cardstock (#121045) cut 5 1/4 by 4"
  3. Seaside Spray cardstock (#150883) cut 5 1/8 by 3 7/8"
  4. Flowers for Every Season DSP (#152486)
  5. Whisper White/Basic White cut 5 by 3 3/4" for the inside, and a 3/4" scrap for the sentiment
  6. In Good Taste DSP scrap for umbrella handles (#15152494)
  7. Under my Umbrella stamp set (#151518) and Umbrella Builder punch (#151293)
  8. Memento Black ink (#132708), Seaside Spray ink (#150085)
  9. 2020-22 In Color Enamel dots (#152480)
  10. 2020-22 In color 1/4" ribbon in Magenta Madness (#153623)-4"
  11. Subtle Embossing Folder (#151775)
  12. Potted Succulents Dies (#154330)
  13. Lovely Labels Pick a Punch (#152883)
  14. Basic supplies--scissors, bone folders, Dimensionals, Multipurpose Liquid Glue, Piercing Mat, Tear 'N Tape or Stampin' Seal Plus

Let's start with making a template of our Umbrella Builder punch--just punch it out on scrap paper, then lay it down next to your upside down punch, which is how you will punch it out eventually.

Then lay the two umbrellas right side/stamping side down into the punched holes.

Then pick them both up together onto the block like this:

Now using Memento black ink, stamp this onto your Flowers for Everywhere DSP and punch it out. Also stamp the rain boots on to the same DSP--you will have to fussy cut these. I just love these boots and umbrellas and wish I could find something like this in my size! Also punch 2 of the umbrella handles out of a In Good Taste DSP scrap.

Using your Lovely Labels Pick a Punch, punch the left edge of a 3/4" scrap of Whisper or Basic White  cardstock. Stamp your sentiment and then trim and then punch the right side of your sentiment piece.

Using your Potted Succulents dies, cut out the larger sentiment die from the Flowers for Everywhere DSP and glue the sentiment to it. Glue the boots to the left side of the sentiment piece.

Now on to the Seaside Spray piece. Using Seaside Spray ink, stamp lots of raindrops down the top 2/3-3/4 of the cardstock. Run this through your embossing machine using the Subtle embossing folder.

Time to assemble the card.
    1. Using Tear 'N Tape or Stampin' Seal Plus attach the center part of the ribbon to the Seaside Spray piece at the bottom of your raindrops. Using Dimensionals, attach the sentiment/boot piece over this.
    2. Glue the umbrella handle in place. Attach the umbrella with Dimensionals.
    3. Glue this to the black cardstock and then to the card base.
    4. Attach the folded umbrella and the second handle to the inside.
    5. You can also put some raindrops inside and/or on your envelope like this:
