Expressions in Ink Suite

 Expressions in Ink Suite

If you've seen the cover of the new Annual Stampin' Up Catalog then you've seen a sneak peak at the Expressions in Ink suite on page 96-97 that I decided to play with today. The colors are happy and fun and the DSP is TO DIE FOR even though I didn't use it on the cards above! In my Facebook Live over at Stamp with Dr Robin (and below) you will see how I made a whole variety of cards from this suite, but I thought I'd highlight one using the large die as a mask here today. The suite includes the Artistically Inked Bundle, the Expressions in Ink DSP which has gold foil in every page, as well as the Expressions in Ink Ephemera Pack that has gold pieces to punch out and some sparkly adhesive backed sequins. Let's get going and making the cards above.

First gather your supplies:

1. Magenta Madness card base cut 8 1/2 by 5 1/2" scored at 4 1/4" and folded
2. Thick Whisper/Basic White card base cut 11 by 4 1/4" scored at 5 1/2" and folded in half
3. Whisper/Basic White cardstock cut 5 1/2 by 4 1/4" and another 5 by 3 3/4" (for the inside of the Magenta card)
4. Scrap of Whisper/Basic White for cutting out the largest die
5. Expressions in Ink DSP if you want to make the cards below
6. Artistically Inked Bundle (#155456)
7. Pretty Flowers Embossing Folder (#155428) for one of the cards below
8. Expressions in Ink Ephemera Pack (#155465) for cards below
9. Ink--Magenta Madness, Mango Melody, Granny Apple Green, Daffodil Delight and Basic Gray for these cards. Also used Shaded Spruce, Pear Pizzazz and Pale Papaya for some of the cards below
10. Gold Embossing powder, heat gun, Versamark ink and Gold Leaf for cards below
11. Basic supplies--bone folder, Dimensionals (regular), adhesive (Multipurpose Glue), Blending Brushes

Start by cutting the largest die out of a scrap of white card stock. Then lay it on top of your 5 1/2 by 4 1/4" piece of Whisper/Basic White. Be sure not to move the die as you color. Start by using your Blending Brushes and the Magenta Madness ink on the largest flower, then the Mango Melody on the second largest flower and Daffodil Delight on the 3 smaller flowers. After picking up the ink, tap the brush gently on your scrap paper before blending to prevent blobs--blend in concentric circles starting with the inside of the flower so you lay the darkest color there. Blend some of each color past the die so that the bottom card has more color. Once you are happy, lift off the die and marvel at how great both pieces look.

To make the card on the left above use the die and stamp the "thanks" or any sentiment you want onto the white card base and then attach the die with glue. So pretty! Here's a close up.

To make the card on the right, cut your inked piece down to 5 1/4 by 4" and then stamp your sentiment on the top (or wherever you left some white). Attach to the folded Magenta Madness card base. Stamp some flowers on the inside white piece and attach it to the card. So easy and pretty.

The card below uses a Polished Pink card base. The next layer is Whisper/Basic White cut 5 1/2 by 3 1/4" and embossed with the new Pretty Flowers Embossing Folder. The next layer up is 2 by 5 1/2" piece of the DSP with some Gold Foil leaves cut from the dies and some of the Expressions in Ink Ephemera Pack leaves tucked under the DSP. Then the largest die cut from Whisper/Basic White and one of the shapes from the Ephemera Pack then the sentiment is on a scrap of 1/2" white embossed in gold embossing powder and raised up on Dimensionals. A sprinkle of the Ephemera sequins around and you are done.

For this card I used the largest stamp in Shaded Spruce and then in Pear Pizzazz on top stamped in 3 rows on a piece of 5 1/4 by 4" Whisper/Basic White. I attached it to a Shaded Spruce card base and added a piece of white to the inside. I then put small streaks of Multipurpose Glue on the inked images and let it dry a bit until clear and smushed some of the gold leafing on top, taking the excess off with a piece of sponge. I used the Ephemera Pack for the gold leaves as well as some cut from the dies and the same sentiment as above.

The card below is all about the gorgeous DSP which is cut 5 1/2 by 3" and the Just Jade piece underneath is 5 1/2 by 3 1/2" on a Evening Evergreen card base. A gold foil die cut and a gold piece from the Ephemera Pack under the sentiment finish it off.

For the card below I used the stamps in Magenta Madness, Mango Melody, Pale Papaya and Granny Apple Green and Basic Grey for the sentiments and those cute dots. Then I used the light Soft Seafoam Blend around the background. The front white piece is 5 1/8 by 3 7/8" and the Magenta Madness piece behind it is 5 3/8 by 4 1/8" on a normal Thick Whisper/Basic White card base.

I hope by now you are as in love with the Expressions in Ink set as I am. If you'd like to order all or some of it, please click on the Robin above left.
