Sweet as a Peach with a Fun Fold Surprise
The peaches are here! The peaches are here, in more ways than one. I bought my first round of summer peaches at Costco this week and at the same time received my shipment of the new catalog products and the first thing I opened to play with was the Sweet as a Peach bundle and matching DSP. Peaches make me think of lazy, warm summer days and all the goodness that goes with them so when I saw this set I had to have it. The stamp set has beautiful Distinktive stamps that make the images look layered even though they are just one stamp, and the sentiments and fonts are beautiful. The colors are just so luscious in the DSP that I just had to use them today in a card. I got the inspiration for the inside of the card while watching Karen Titus make an accordion fold with butterflies and wanted to use that in a card. Here's how I did it.
First gather your supplies:
1. Calypso Coral card base cut 8 1/2 by 5 1/2" scored at 4 1/4" and folded
2. Whisper/Basic White cardstock cut 1 by 2" for the sentiment and scraps for the peaches
3. Whisper/Basic White cardstock cut with the 2nd largest Stitched so Sweetly Dies
4. Scraps of Pear Pizzazz cardstock for leaves
5. You're a Peach DSP cut 4 by 2 3/4" for the front and two 4 by 5 1/4" pieces of the stripes for the inside
6. Stitched so Sweetly Dies (#151690)
7. Sweet as a Peach Bundle (#155823)
8. Pale Papaya Open Weave ribbon (#155672)
9. Checks and Dots Embossing Folder (#155432)
10. Ink--Pear Pizzazz, Pale Papaya, Early Espresso and Calypso Corral
11. Genial Gems (#155500)
12. Basic supplies--bone folder, Dimensionals (regular), adhesive, Glue Dots, sponge dauber
Let's make a card. If you get lost along the way, just watch my Facebook Live video below.
First stamp and then cut out with dies 7 of the big peaches. To give them even more depth I first inked them up with the Pale Papaya ink, then used a sponge dauber around the edges with Calypso Coral. Put these aside until we need them for the inside.
Fold the dot embossing folder around the top part of the front of the card and run it through your Big Shot or Stamp, Cut and Emboss machine as you see below.
To stamp the front Stitched so Sweetly piece, first stamp the big leaf stamp using Pear Pizzazz. Then take the stamp with the 3 big flowers and ink them up like you did the peaches--first ink them up with the Pale Papaya ink, then use a sponge dauber around the edges with Calypso Coral. Notice they fit perfectly into the spaces on the branch with the bigger flower on the bottom. Use Early Espresso for the centers of the flowers and the sentiment both on the outside and the inside.
Attach the flowery 4 by 2 3/4" piece of DSP to the bottom front of the card then attach a zig-zag of Pale Papaya ribbon to the front. I used Stampin' Seal to attach the ribbon as it holds so well. Attach your stamp piece with Dimensionals and then add 3 of the smaller Papaya Genial Gems.
Now it's time to work on the inside of the card. Attach the striped pieces of DSP to the inside and then the sentiment piece. Take your big peaches and fold them in all in half. Attach them to each other in a line in the same place in the upper corner using glue dots. Figure out where you want them on the card, having the fold in the middle (4th) peach be along the center fold of the card. Now fold them all together and put 3 glue dots on one of the end peaches and attach that to the card. Fold all the peaches up on top of the already attached peach and put 3 glue dots on the top peach. Fold the card shut on top of the stack of peaches and press to attach. Open the card up and glue a leaf set to each of the end peaches and you are done! I think if you watch the video below you will understand it better how I did this.
Enjoy! Now go eat a peach--you know you want to!
