Love is Love

Love is Love

June is LGBTQ+ Pride Month and I wanted to make a card to honor that, as well as to play with the technique of using alcohol markers on vellum. And who doesn't like a rainbow of color? Obviously you can use this technique in many ways and use the rainbow background however you'd like. If you come back tomorrow, I will post some more cards using this technique. And, as always if you are a visual learner you can always watch my Facebook live below to learn more.

First gather your supplies:
1. Whisper/Basic White card base cut 8 1/2 by 5 1/2" scored at 4 1/4" and folded
2. Vellum cut 4 by 5 1/4"
3. Playful Alphabet Dies (#152706)
4. Be Mine Stitched Dies (retired) or something else, like the Dog Punch, to cut some hearts
5. Scraps of Black and Poppy Parade for the hearts and letters
6. Foam Adhesive Strips (#141825) or Foam Adhesive Sheets (#152815)
7. Blends-- Dark Poppy Parade, Calypso Coral, Daffodil Delight, Shaded Spruce, Night of Navy, Blackberry Bliss.
8. Basic supplies--bone folder, adhesive (Multipurpose Glue), silicone mat, scrap of sponge, isopropyl alcohol, Water Painters

Start by taking your vellum and scribble the blends in a rainbow order as below.

Fill the small Water Painter with the alcohol and drop some drops all over the vellum like this. Wait a bit as the alcohol will continue to spread and if you put too much it washes out the color. If you need to, add some more drops. Let it dry. It will dry quickly and try to roll up on itself--you could use some double sided tape to hold it while it dries.

Cut the letters out of the black cardstock. If you are smart you have the Foam Adhesive Sheets and you put that on the back of the black cardstock before you cut it out. If you are like me you add the Foam Adhesive strips to the back of the letters (mostly the long straight edges).

By now your vellum is dry. Turn it over. Put a glob of Multipurpose Glue on the silicone sheet (don't worry once it's dry you can easily peel off the excess) and use your piece of sponge to put a light layer on the vellum and stick it to the front of your folded card base. Cut a few hearts out and glue them on then attach the letters.

I used another die from the Be Mine Stitched Dies to add this to the inside.
