Whimsical Trees meets Beauty of the Earth DSP

Whimsical Trees meets Beauty of the Earth DSP

Welcome back to my blog. Today I wanted to highlight the Stampin' Up Beauty of the Earth Designer Series Paper (DSP) and the new Whimsical Tree stamp set and coordinating dies that are for sale in the July-December Mini Catalog starting 8/3/21. I've been saving this piece of paper since I bought it in April as I wanted to use it for a special holiday card. I didn't know what at the time as I hadn't seen the new Mini Catalog yet, but I was hoping it would work with something in there, and boy am I glad I waited as it goes perfectly with this stamp set and dies! And this DSP is 15% off through 8/2/21. If you want to craft along with me, watch my Facebook Live attached below.

First gather your supplies:
1. Misty Moonlight card base cut 8 1/2 by 5 1/2" scored at 4 1/4" and folded.
2. Basic White cut 4 by 5 1/4" for the inside, a scrap for the sentiment piece and to cut out one tree.
3. Beauty of the Earth DSP (#155841) cut 3 5/8 by 4 7/8"
4. Whimsical Trees Bundle (#156810)
5. Peaceful Deer stamp set (#156891)
6. Hippo and Friends Dies (#153585)
7. Wink of Stella (#141897)
8. Night of Navy Cardstock cut 3 3/4 by 5"
9. Flowers for Every Season Ribbon Combo Pack (#153620)
10. Ink--Misty Moonlight
11. Basic supplies--bone folder, adhesive (Multipurpose Glue  and Glue Dots), Regular Dimensionals, Piercing Mat, Blending Brush

Fold your card base in half. Attach the Beauty of the Earth DSP to the Night of Navy cardstock then attach that to the card base with Dimensionals.

Now for stamping which is all done in Misty Moonlight. Stamp the sentiment onto the Hippo and Friends die cut--I used the second largest die and Basic White cardstock. Pop that up on Dimensionals and attach to your card. Using the snowflake stamp from the Peaceful Deer set, stamp on the inside white piece and attach that.

Now for the tree--cut one tree out of Misty Moonlight and remove the little pieces. Cut another piece in white and use the little pieces for the snow on the tree. The best way to do this is to glue the Misty Moonlight tree to the card first, then glue the 6 white pieces in their place--be careful not to loose any of them when you cut out the white tree. Here's another look at the card.

Now for the bow. Cut a piece or the white Flowers for Every Season ribbon. Using your Blending Brush, apply Misty Moonlight ink to the bottom half of the ribbon on both sides--try to make the edge part darker. Then you have two ways to tie the double bow and you can see me do both on my Facebook Live below. One way is using a bow tying gizmo--mine is called the Simple Bowmaker and the bows always come out perfect--see above and below on this card.

The other way to tie the bow is to use 2 pieces of ribbon cut the same length, one on top of the other and pretend it's just one piece of ribbon, then fluff and cut the ends afterwards. Below and the top card is how this comes out. Now put some Wink of Stella on the snow on the tree and dots of it on the sentiment piece--sorry that it's hard to photograph how shimmery it is.
