Counting Sheep Go To Ballet Class

Counting Sheep Go To Ballet Class

It's Sale-a-Bration (SAB) time until September 30, 2021, and this fun card uses 5, yes 5!, FREE SAB items to make. And it is starring the adorable Counting Sheep stamp set and dies (both FREE). As the dies and the gorgeous, glittery Be Dazzling paper (also FREE) are while supplies last, you will want to order them quickly before they run out.

This card came to me in the middle of the night (maybe I was truly counting sheep to get back to sleep) that the little dancing sheep needed to go to dance class. Then, of course, they needed the proper attire--tutus and ballet slippers. The tutus were made with the large daisy punch and the shoes/hats and the scalloped oval were all made with the Be Dazzling paper. But wait, you say, the Be Dazzling paper is gold and these are Polished Pink and Fresh Freesia! Well I colored the paper with my Blender Pens--the paper can be any color you want. I'll show you everything you need to know to make this card below.

First gather your supplies:
1. Polished Pink cardstock cut 8 1/2 by 5 1/2" scored at 4 1/4" on the long side and folded in half.
2. Penguin Playmates DSP (# 158420) cut 4 by 5 1/4" (Free SAB item with $50 purchase)
3. Basic White 3 3/4 by 5" for the inside and a scrap of Basic White for your sentiment piece and the sheep.
4. In Good Taste DSP (I used the wood piece with the white and blue tile on the back, #152494) cut 5 1/4 by about 2 1/4"
5. Punches--Daisy (#143713) and Double Oval (#154242)
6. Be Dazzling Specialty paper (#156629) (Free SAB item with $50 purchase)
7. 2021-23 In Color Shimmer Vellum (#156470)
8. Stamp sets--Counting Sheep (#156591) (Free SAB item with $50 purchase) and Delicate Dahlias (#156601) (Free SAB item with $100 purchase)
9. Dies--Sheep dies (#156600) (Free SAB item with $50 purchase), Basic Border dies (#155558), Smooth Sailing dies (#149576)
10. 2021-23 In Color Jewels (#155571)
11. Ink--Memento Black, Polished Pink
12. Blends--Dark Polished Pink, Fresh Freesia and Light Smokey Slate
13. Basic supplies--bone folder, adhesive (Multipurpose Glue), Regular Dimensionals, Piercing Mat, Paper Snips

Start by making your sheep--using your Memento Black ink, stamp 2 of the dancing sheep onto Basic White cardstock. Cut them out with your Sheep dies. Color their faces and ears with Light Smokey Slate Blends. Make their tutus by punching a daisy for each our of the In Color Shimmer Vellum in Fresh Freesia and Polished Pink. Cut the daisy in half, then cut off one of the petals from one half. Glue that half daisy on top of the other, offsetting the petals.

Now for the party hats and ballet slippers. Color a small piece of the Be Dazzling paper with the Fresh Freesia and Polished Pink Blends--use the edge of the paintbrush side so as to not wear out the tip. Use the sheep dies to cut out a party hat in each color. Cut 2 tiny ballet slippers for each sheep to cover their hooves. See how I did this on my Facebook Live video below. Glue the hat and slippers on each sheep then glue on their tutu. Use your bone folder to lift up the tutu a bit. Here's some close ups of the sheep.

Now take your piece of In Good Taste paper and using the rounded Basic border die, cut out the floor. At the same time across the top of the hump, use the straight rope die from Smooth Sailing to make a barre for ballet class. Again the video shows what I mean.

Using Polished Pink ink, stamp the sentiment from Delicate Dahlias onto a scrap of Basic White and punch it out with the small oval from the Double Oval punch.  Punch a piece of the Be Dazzling paper with the scalloped oval and color it with your Fresh Freesia Blend. Glue these 2 pieces together. Stamp a few hats in Polished Pink on your inside piece of Basic White.

We are ready to assemble the card. Fold your card base in half and attach your Basic White piece inside. Attach the piece of Penguin Playmates DSP to the front of the card and the In Good Taste piece on top of that. Put Dimensionals on the back of your sentiment piece and your sheep--figure out where you want them before gluing on the barre piece first, then the sheep and sentiment. Scatter some In-Color jewels around.

  1. Robin, he only has 2 ears. On the right side, it's a tuft of wool. The ears are back behind the head. Does that help?

  2. I think I would use a dab of glitter glue for the shoes!
