Baby Wipe Technique with Pretty Pumpkins
So the first time I saw the Pretty Pumpkins stamp set, this big, beautiful pumpkin stamp caught my eye and all I could think of was, "I have to do the baby wipe technique with this stamp". And I was right, it's the perfect stamp for using this technique! The other thing I wanted to use on this card, as I've had it for a few months and hadn't used it yet, is the Cork Specialty Paper--it actually feels like real cork. This is a great all- occasion fall card. I may use it for Thanksgiving, or even a fall birthday.
Let's get right to making this card.
First gather your supplies:
1. Old Olive cardstock cut 8 1/2 by 5 1/2" scored at 4 1/4" on the long side and folded in half. And a small scrap for a leaf
2. Merry Merlot cardstock cut 4 1/8 by 5 3/8" and a scrap for a leaf
3. A scrap of Pumpkin Pie for a leaf
4. Basic White cardstock cut 3 3/4 by 5" for the inside and a scrap of Basic White to stamp the pumpkin
5. Beauty of the Earth DSP (# 155841) cut 4 by 5 1/4"
6. Cork Specialty paper (#156393) cut out with the 3rd largest Stitched Rectangle die
7. Brushed Metallic cardstock (#153524)
8. Blackberry Beauty Ephemera Pack (#156469)
9. Stamp set--Pretty Pumpkins (#156472)
10. Dies--Detailed Pumpkins (#156477), Stitched Rectangles (#151820)
11. Ink refills--Merry Merlot, Old Olive, Pumpkin Pie and Cinnamon Cider
12. Brushed Metallic Adhesive Back Dots (#156506)
13. Linen thread (#104199)
14. Basic supplies--bone folder, adhesive (Multipurpose Glue), Regular Dimensionals, Take Your Pick tool. You will need some washi tape or painter's tape, some baby wipes and something to put them in (a flat pie tin or an empty stamp case works)
Let's start by explaining the baby wipe technique--you can see more on how to do this on my video below. Fold about 3 baby wipes in half and put them in something flat (like an old stamp case or I used a pie tin). This will become your stamp pad. Take one of the ink refills and drop 1 drop at a time spaced out in the size of your stamp that you will be using. Repeat using the other 3 ink refills--they do spread so space them apart. In the end though you want the colors touching but try not to let them run too much together or it will all look brown. Stamp the leafy pumpkin stamp into the baby wipes--press hard and don't move it around. Stamp on a piece of scrap Basic White and then cut it out with the dies.
