Symbols of Fortune
I decided to make this card today as I just love the new Symbols of Fortune suite that is coming January 4th in the new Jan-June Mini Stampin' Up catalog. This catalog is packed with gorgeous new suites and I'm afraid this one will get overlooked as the colors and stamp set are more subtle, but it is really stunning. It is on page 22-24 and the main colors in it are Calypso Coral, Evening Evergreen, Soft Succulent, Crumb Cake, Smokey Slate but the best part is that all the papers have gold foil on one side! For this card I didn't use the foiled side, but if you watch my Facebook Live below you will see a card I made with the foiled paper. Let's get going on making our card. First gather your supplies:
1. Evening Evergreen cardstock cut 4 1/4 by 11" and scored at 2 3/4 and 5 1/2"" on the long side. Another piece 4 1/4 by 2 3/4"
2. Basic White cardstock 4 1/4 by 2 3/4" for the inside, 4 by 2 1/2" for the front, and a scrap for the chrysanthemum
3. Symbols of Fortune Specialty DSP (#157652)
4. Stamp set--Crane of Fortune (#157654 or bundle #157663)
5. Dies--Good Fortune (#157662)
6. Ink--Calypso Coral, Evening Evergreen, Crumb Cake, Smokey Slate
7. Soft Succulent Open Weave Ribbon
8. Polished Dots (#158134)
9. Gilded Leafing if you want to follow what I did on the Facebook Live below.
10. Basic supplies--bone folder, Paper Snips, adhesive (Multipurpose Glue), Regular Dimensionals, Die Cutting and Embossing Machine (mini or regular), Glue Dot
Start by folding the Evening Evergreen cardstock in half and then fold the 2 3/4" piece backwards as below. Attach the larger piece of DSP to the inside of the card and the smaller piece of DSP to the front.
Now let's stamp. Take the Basic White cardstock 4 1/4 by 2 3/4" and using the Calypso Coral ink, after stamping off (stamp on a piece of scratch paper then stamp on your cardstock) the chrysanthemum stamp in the corner. Stamp the sentiment in Evening Evergreen. Attach to the center of the inside like this:
Now stamp the 4 by 2 1/2" piece of Basic White. Stamp off each time using Calypso Coral, Crumb Cake and Smokey Slate randomly all over. Attach this to the smaller piece of Evening Evergreen.
Using a scrap of Basic White, stamp the chrysanthemum (full strength) in Calypso Coral and then cut it out with the matching die. You can attach it to the front like this, or add some Gilded Leafing like I did in the video below. To add the gold leafing, randomly put some glue on the flowers, let it dry a bit (no longer white but still tacky) and then dunk it in the Gilded Leafing. Rub it into the glue then brush away the excess with your fingers and a piece of sponge.
Attach the flowers to the front piece with Dimensionals. Attach the front rectangle to the front of the card using Dimensionals only on the left half of the card, making sure it covers the inside/sentiment piece. Tie a bow with the Soft Succulent Ribbon and attach with a glue dot. Then add 3 randomly placed Polished Dots. Watch my Facebook Live below to get more tips. I go live every Monday at 1 pm PST--come join me!
