Daffodil Dies Done Easy

I've been playing with the Daffodil Daydreams bundle a lot lately, especially as we used it at our mini-retreat this past weekend. These are 2 of the cards we made and now you can make them too. This set is perfect for spring cards, Mother's Day, Easter or Passover cards. I also wanted to share that the dies aren't as hard to use as they look. You just need to take them out and play with them. I have a lot of tips on using them in my Facebook Live video below. I go live every Monday at 1 pm PST on Facebook at Stamp with Dr Robin--please join me. You can also see the videos on my YouTube channel by the same name.

The second card is a bay window card--we made one a few weeks ago with the free Sale a Bration Rainbow paper. Both of these cards today were made with the free Sale a Bration Daffodil Afternoon Designer Series Paper. This paper is a must have to use with your Daffodil Daydreams set.

Let's make two cards. First gather your supplies for both:

1. Basic White thick cardstock cut 8 1/2 by 5 1/5" scored on the long side at 4 1/4" and folded in half (first card above)
2. Crushed Curry cardstock 11 by 4 1/4" scored on the long side at 3/8, 1 7/8, 3 5/8, 5 1/8 and 5 1/2" (card 2), Scraps of Crushed Curry to cut out the daffodils (card 1) and a also cut a piece with a Scalloped Layering Circle die that is just a bit larger than the Vanilla circle below (card 2). Punch a scrap using the Tailored Tag punch also.
3. Basic White cardstock scrap for the sentiment (card 1) cut with smallest Scalloped Contours die
4. Very Vanilla cardstock cut 4 1/8 by 3 1/8" for the inside. Die cut the 4th smallest circle from the Layering circles and a scrap for the sentiment--these are all for card 2
5. Pear Pizzaz cardstock--die cut 2 leaves and 2 stems (card 1)
6. So Saffron cardstock for cutting out the daffodils (card 1)
7. Daffodil Afternoon DSP--die cut with the largest rectangle from the Scalloped Contours dies (card 1) and a 4 1/8 by 6" piece for card 2. Cut this one 1 3/8, 1 5/8, 1 3/8 and 1 5/8 for the second card--be sure to keep them in order. Also cut 3 pieces 1/4 by 4 1/8" out of the black with white + on it.
8.  Bumblebee Gingham ribbon (card 1)
9. Stamp set- Daffodil Daydreams (stamp set # 157786, bundle #157795). Friendly Hello (Sale a Bration #158075)
10. Dies--Scalloped Contours (#155560), Daffodil dies (#157794 or bundle #157795), Layering Circles (#151770)
11. Ink-- Memento Black, Pear Pizzaz and So Saffron
12. Brushed Brass Butterflies (#158136)
13. Punch--Tailored Tag (#145667)
14. For coloring--Crushed Curry Watercolor Pencil (or use a Blender pen and Crushed Curry ink) and light Mossy Meadow blend.
15. Basic supplies--bone folder, Paper Snips, Piercing Mat, adhesive (Multipurpose Glue), Regular Dimensionals, Die Cutting and Embossing Machine (mini or regular)

For card one, see below (or the video below) on how to make the 2 flowers. Note that the first column (the background pieces) are all cut out of So Saffron and the second column are all cut out of Crushed Curry. I attached the center part (#3 on the diagram) to the final flowers with a Dimensional and used glue to attach the other parts together.

Fold your Basic White cardstock in half. Attach the piece of Daffodil Afternoon DSP that has been die cut with the largest Scalloped Contours rectangle. Lay out the 2 daffodils, leaves and stems before attaching them--notice you will have to cut the bottoms off the leaves and stems to make them fit on the paper. Attach them all with Multipurpose Glue. Fold in half and attach a piece of Bumblebee gingham ribbon.

Stamp a sentiment in Memento on the Basic White piece that was die cut with the smallest Scalloped contours die. Attach it to the card using Dimensionals. For the inside, I stamped a So Saffron butterfly and a few of the dots in Pear Pizzaz.

For the second card, start by scoring your Crushed Curry cardstock at 3/8, 1 7/8, 3 5/8, 5 1/8 and 5 1/2" on the long side. Burnish your fold lines. Fold the paper in half on the 5 1/2" score. Attach the front to the back using Tear 'N Tape close to the fold along that small piece between the center fold and the first score line 3/8" away. That score line should fold out, while the next 2 fold in to make the bay window.

Now cut your DSP--start with a piece 4 1/8 by 6" and cut it into 4 pieces that are in this order (and keep them in order) 1 3/8", 1 5/8", 1 3/8", 1 5/8". Cut 3 pieces of a coordinating piece of DSP 1/4 by 4 1/8".
Now attach the larger pieces of DSP--3 across the front and the 4th on the inside right. Attach the 1/4" strips along the right and left of the front and to the left of the other DSP on the inside as below. Attach the Very Vanilla inside piece. Leave a tiny strip of the Crushed Curry showing between each piece.

For the sentiment, use Crushed Curry and Very Vanilla cardstock and the Tailored Tag punch to punch a piece of each one. Stamp your sentiment in the center--I used one from the free Sale a Bration Friendly Hello set, but you can use one from the Daffodil Daydreams set also. Cut the Crushed Curry punched piece in half along the long way, separate it a bit and glue it to the back of the Vanilla piece so that about 1/8" shows top and bottom. Attach it to just the front/middle panel with Dimensionals (best to put one on the top point and one on the bottom, not on the left/right edges) so that it doesn't stick to the 2 side panels.

Stamp the top part of the single daffodil in Memento on to the circle of Very Vanilla.  For coloring it you can use Crushed Curry Watercolor Pencil (or use a Blender pen and Crushed Curry ink) and light Mossy Meadow blend. Attach it to the Crushed Curry Scalloped circle. Attach it to the inside of the card using Dimensionals--it's very important to NOT put a Dimensional all the way to the left side of the circle--you need to be in about 1/2" so that the front can tuck under to make the bay window.

Scatter the Brass Butterflies however you wish on the card.

Here's my Facebook Live to show you how it's done. Let me know if you need any supplies.
