Masking with Flowering Rain Boots

I thought it would be fun to remind everyone how to do the masking technique and what better to do it with than the Flowering Rain Boots bundle? This bundle has adorable images that remind me of spring as well as some nice sentiments. The best way to see how to mask is to watch my Facebook Live below or the same video on my YouTube channel at Stamp with Dr Robin. I'll try to describe it here for you as we go.

First, gather your supplies to make this card.

1. Misty Moonlight cardstock 5 1/2" by 8 1/2" scored on the long side at 4 1/4"
2. Basic White cardstock 3 3/4 by 5" for the inside and another piece die cut with the Scalloped Contours Dies (3rd largest) and a scrap for the watering can and die for masking
3. Pattern Party Designer Series Paper (#155426) cut 3 3/4 by 5"
4. Mango Melody cardstock for the sentiment cut 3/4 by 2 1/4"
5. Stamp Set-- Flowering Rain Boots (#157689 for stamp set or #157691 for bundle)
6. Dies-- Rain Boots Dies (#157690 or #157691 for bundle) and Scalloped Contours (#155560 or #158356 for bundle)
7. Ink-- Misty Moonlight, Mango Melody, Basic Grey
8. Silver and Clear Epoxy Essentials (#155567)
9. Basic supplies--bone folder, Paper Snips, adhesive (I like Multipurpose Glue), Regular and Mini Dimensionals, Die Cutting and Embossing Machine

Let's stamp first. In Mango Melody ink, stamp the daisies about half way down on the Scalloped Contours piece and a more toward the left side. Die cut (with a scrap of Basic White) the die you would use to cut out the daisies and then lay it on top of the daisies you just stamped with just a little bit of the stamped image peeking out from the bottom of your die cut like below left. Then with Misty Moonlight ink, stamp the pot so it overlaps the die cut.

This is what the pot of flowers should look like when you are done. Notice the daisies below come to the front of the pot and you don't really see the edge at all, just as you wouldn't see the edge of the pot in real life! This might take a couple of practices so try it on some copy paper first. If the stamp you want to be masking with doesn't have a corresponding die, then just stamp it on a Post It note and cut it out by hand (I'll show you how on the video). Now stamp your pot of flowers on the inside too!

Using Basic Gray, stamp the watering can and cut it out with the dies. Use Misty Moonlight ink to stamp your sentiment on the Mango Melody piece. Now just put your card together--fold your card base in half and attach the above inside piece. Then attach your pretty Pattern Party paper to the front. Attach the stamped Scallops Contour piece to the lower left, add the sentiment and then the watering can on Dimensionals. Scatter 3 silver or clear raindrops from the  Silver and Clear Epoxy Essentials and you are done.
Let me know if you need any of these supplies.
