So if it is Memorial Day, that means it is the first official day of summer. When I saw this paper in the new Texture Chic Specialty Designer Series Paper I knew I'd have to break out my Friends are Like Seashells bundle as it matched so perfectly. I love how this card turned out and can't wait to head to the beach and find some shells.
Let's get to making these cards. First, gather your supplies.
1. Petal Pink cardstock 5 1/2" by 8 1/2" scored on the long side at 4 1/4", another piece 4 1/4 by 5 1/2" to use for die cutting.
2. Basic White cardstock 3 3/4 by 5" for the inside and a scrap for the sentiment
3. Soft Suede cardstock cut 3 7/8 by 5 1/8", a scrap for the sentiment backing and another to cut some seaweed
4. Scrap of Smoky Slate cardstock
5. Texture Chic DSP (#156095) cut 3 3/4 by 5"
6. Stamp Set--Friends are Like Seashells (# 158203)
7. Dies--Seaside Seashells (#155560) and All That (#159078)
8. Embossing Folder--Seashells 3D (#154309)
9. Polished Dots (#158134)
10. Ink--Soft Suede, Smoky Slate and Petal Pink
11. Basic supplies--bone folder, Paper Snips, adhesive (I like Multipurpose Glue), Regular and Mini Dimensionals, Die Cutting and Embossing Machine, Blending Brush, Take Your Pick Tool and Die Brush Tip
Start by running your quarter sheet of Petal Pink through the Cutting Machine using the largest Seaside Shells Die. Then carefully place this piece in your Seashells 3D Embossing folder and run that through your machine. Use your Blending Brush and the Smoky Slate and Soft Suede ink to randomly add color to the seashells. Now use your Paper Snips to cut out the seashells you want to use and some of the seaweed. Also run a piece of Soft Suede cardstock through the same way--you really only need a bit of seaweed so you can run a small piece of paper through or just cut and emboss the whole thing and use the rest for something else. If you want more help, watch my Facebook Live below. Here's a close-up of the seashell:
Using Soft Suede ink, stamp the sand dollar and sea star on the Smoky Slate cardstock, then scuff them up with the Blending Brushes also. Cut them out by hand or using the Seaside Shells dies. Using Petal Pink ink, stamp on the Basic White die cut from the All That dies. Cut the same die cut out of Soft Suede cardstock and cut it in half horizontally. Separate the two pieces and glue them to the back of the sentiment. Stamp a seashell or sand dollar on the Basic White piece for the inside. It will look like this:
Now let's put the card together. Fold the card base in half. Attach the inside piece. Attach the Texture Chic DSP to the Soft Suede piece and glue those to the front of the card. Arrange some pieces of seaweed and glue them down. Glue the sand dollar to the left side, then attach the sentiment using Dimensionals. Attach the seashell and sea star using a combination of Dimensionals and glue and then scatter 3 Polished Dots to the front and we are done!
