Apple Harvest Rosh Hashanah Card

Fall is upon us, and Sunday evening 9/25 started the first night of Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year. The custom on Rosh Hashanah is to eat apples dipped in honey for a sweet new year, so I thought the Apple Harvest bundle would be the perfect one to use for this card. Of course you could also use this card for a birthday card, or for many other reasons. At this point, Stampin' Up doesn't have any Jewish holiday sentiments, but the first stamp set I ever bought from them in 2003 had many Jewish sentiments in it. If you need it, you could also type "Happy Rosh Hashanah" and run it off on card stock. Only through 9/30, you can buy the matching dies, Apple Blossom dies!

Let's make a card! Gather your supplies:
1. Sweet Sorbet--Card base 5 1/2 by 8 1/2" scored on the long side at 4 1/4" and folded in half along the score line.
2.Perfectly Penciled Designer Series Paper (#159244) cut2 3/4 by 5 1/4"
3. Basic White Cardstock for the inside 4 by 5 1/4", a piece for the apple and a scrap for the sentiment
4. Stamp Set--Apple Harvest (#159944), Kindest Gnomes (#159616), Potted Geraniums (#159056)
5. Dies--Scalloped Contours (#1155560), Apple Blossom
6. Ink--Parakeet Party, Soft Suede, Sweet Sorbet
9. Blends--Light and Dark Sweet Sorbet, Light and Dark Parakeet Party, Light Pool Party, Dark Crumb Cake, Color Lifter
10. 2022-24 In Color Baker's Twine Pack (#159195)
11. Iridescent Rhinestone Basic Jewels (#158130)
12. Basic supplies--bone folder, Paper Snips, adhesive (I like Multipurpose Glue), Mini and Regular Dimensionals, Die Cutting and Embossing Machine, Mini Glue Dots

Use the long scalloped stamp from the Apple Blossom Dies, cut the front right side of the Sweet Sorbet card base about 3/4-1" from the side.

Now let's stamp. Using the third largest die from Scalloped Contour dies, cut a Basic White piece. Stamp with Soft Suede ink and then color the apple with Light and Dark Sweet Sorbet, Light and Dark Parakeet Party, and Dark Crumb Cake. Using the smaller side, trace around the outside of the apple with the Light Pool Party blend. It will dry lighter, but if you want it even lighter use the Color Lifter to soften the edges. See a close up below.

Using the Soft Suede ink again stamp a flower in the right corner and the sentiment from Potted Geraniums on the inside Basic White page. Use the little background stamp from Apple Harvest and Parakeet Party ink, stamp it off once before stamping over/around the sentiment and attach it to the inside of the card:

Attach the .Perfectly Penciled DSP to the front of the card. Attach the stamped apple using Dimensionals. Fold a piece of the Sweet Sorbet Baker's Twine in half and make a bow with it. Attach at the base of the stem with a Mini Glue Dot. Using Dark Sweet Sorbet Blend, color 1 big and 2 small  Iridescent Rhinestone Basic Jewels. Be sure to let them dry, then attach to the front.

For the Happy New Year sentiment, use the sentiment from Kindest Gnome in Sweet Sorbet and then cut off the "Merry Christmas and a" and now you have the sentiment above. Attach it with Mini Dimensionals.
