Halloween Cottage Wreath
Like most of you across the Northern Hemisphere, it is still hot here in San Diego, but my thoughts are turning to fall. Even though fall in Southern California isn't like it is in other places, we still like to pretend that it is and get out our fall decorations and pick up the leaves from the few trees that we have that change colors--we have a couple of lovely Japanese maples and liquidambar trees in our yard that do the trick for us. So I thought today I'd make a cute Halloween card to use my new Cottage Wreath bundle that I just bought--don't tell my adult kids they are going to get these for Halloween!
The Cottage Wreath bundle is one of three bundles that Stampin' Up is planning on using for World Cardmaking Day on 10/1/22. The other two are Cottage Rose (from the 2022-23 Annual Catalog) and Warm Welcome which is a preview from the Jan-June 2023 catalog. I have mine on order now, so I will share soon. This event should be fun--it is on line and free for everyone, but you need to sign up on the Stampin' Up web site.
If you are more of a visual learner and want to watch me make this card, check out my Facebook Live below. I am live on Stamp with Dr Robin every Monday at 1 pm PST so please come watch. You can also check me out on YouTube with the same name (be sure to subscribe while you are there).
Let's make this card. First, gather your supplies.
1. Basic Black Cardstock--Card base 5 1/2 by 8 1/2" scored on the long side at 4 1/4" and folded in half along the score line
2. Celebrate Everything DSP (you can only get this by using Reward Dollars after you buy at least $150 of product), the pumpkin piece--cut 4 by 5 1/4"
3. Gingham Cottage DSP--the Pumpkin Pie one cut 2 by 5 1/4"
4. Basic White Cardstock for the inside 3 3/4 by 5" and a scrap for stamping the wreath and spider
5. Basic Black cardstock cut with the Stylish Shapes Dies (the largest flagged end one)
6. Stamp Set--Cottage Wreath (# 159652 or the bundle #159659)
7. Dies-- Country Wreaths (#160238 or the bundle #159659), Stylish Shapes (#159183)
8.Gingham Ribbon (3156485)
9. Ink--Memento Tuxedo Black, Pumpkin Pie
10. Blends--Light and Dark Pumpkin Pie
11. Matte Black Dots (#154284) or Classic Matte Dots (#158146)
12. Basic Black Stampin' Write Marker
13. Basic supplies--bone folder, Paper Snips, adhesive (I like Multipurpose Glue), Regular and Mini Dimensionals, Die Cutting and Embossing Machine, Mini Glue Dots
Start with your piece of Celebrate Everything DSP with the pumpkins and ghosts on it. Color in just the pumpkins using your Pumpkin Pie Blends. I made the lines down the pumpkins with my Dark blend and then colored the rest with my Light blend. Adhere this piece to your Basic Black card front. Here's a close up of a couple of pumpkins:
Now add the piece of Gingham Cottage down the center. Cut in half the Basic Black flagged Stylish Shapes piece and glue that down in the center of the Gingham Cottage piece. Now let's stamp our wreath--stamp the big leaf wreath with Pumpkin Pie ink and then the twig leaf over it in Memento Black. Cut it out using the dies. Please watch my video below to learn how to best use this wreath set as there are some tricks and tips that really help. Also stamp a spider and cut it out. You can also stamp a spider on the inside. Adhere your wreath to your card using Regular Dimensionals. Use Mini Dimensionals for the spider but before sticking him down, draw a line as below with the thin side of your Black Stampin' Write marker--you can draw one inside down to your spider also.
Tie a bow with your Gingham Ribbon and attach it with Mini Glue dots. Scatter Matte Black Dots or Classic Matte Dots on the wreath/card. You can use some Wink of Stella on the spider if you'd like.
Let me know if you need any of these products so you can play along during World Card Making day on 10/2! Also I have a couple spots left in my fall class this Sunday 9/18 if you are near San Diego, or I can send you everything you need. We will be using the Harvest Hello and Soft Seedling stamp sets. Please email me at stampwithdrrobin@gmail.com if you are interested.
Check out my Facebook Live below for more hints and tips using the Cottage Wreath set. And come back and watch every Monday at 1 pm PST on Stamp with Dr Robin.
Happy stampin'
