Watercolor World

Introducing Watercolor World, a Distinctive stamp from the Jan-April Mini Catalog that just went live for everyone this past week. When I saw this large/background stamp of a map of the whole world, I thought of so many different ways to use it--as a graduation card going out into the world, for someone who was going on a vacation, but today I decided to use it for a friend who is retiring soon and loves to travel. I think he will love looking at all the places he can go.

Let's make this card! Gather your supplies:
1. Thick Basic White cardstock--Card base 5 1/2 by 8 1/2" scored at  4 1/4" and folded in along the score line.
2. Dandy Designs DSP--4 by 5 1/4", and another 1/2 by 4 1/4" strip for the inside
3. Shimmery White (or Basic White) cardstock 4 by 5 1/4"
4. Basic Black cardstock--a scrap for the sentiment
5. Stamp Set--Watercolor World (#160808) and Paradise Palms (#157716) for the sentiments
6. Dies--Something Fancy (#160424 or #160425 in the bundle)
7. Ink--Sweet Sorbet, Mango Melody, Tahitian Tide, Orchid Oasis, Granny Apple Green, Crushed Curry or Daffodil Delight, Balmy Blue, Memento Black
8. Glossy Dots (#158827) or Pastel Adhesive-Backed Sequins (#160387)
9. Parakeet Party Baker's Twine (from the 2022-24 In Color Pack #159195)
10. Balmy Blue Watercolor Pencil (#149014)
11. Heat embossing supplies--Embossing Buddy, Versamark Ink, White Embossing Powder, Heat Gun
12. Basic supplies--bone folder, Paper Snips, adhesive (I like Multipurpose Glue),  Regular Dimensionals, Die Cutting and Embossing Machine, Paper Trimmer, Stamparatus, Sponge Daubers

Having a Stamparatus is key to making this multi-colored card. If you are new to using a Stamparatus, please watch my video below for hints and tricks. You could also ink up the whole stamp with individual colors all at once, then huff on it to re-wet the ink and stamp. I first used Basic White cardstock to stamp the Watercolor World stamp, but then used Shimmery Paper which worked better. I inked up each continent/area individually and most I inked up twice for the best coverage. I first inked up North America (and part of Central Americe) in Sweet Sorbet and then South America up into Central America with Mango Melody. I intentionally picked colors that would blend well together. I then used Tahitian Tide for Europe into Asia, then Parakeet Party for the rest of Asia. Then I used Crushed Curry (or you could used Daffodil Delight) for Australia and the surrounding islands. You get a geography lesson each time you use this stamp as you try to figure out which islands/continents/countries you are inking up!

Now get out your embossing supplies. Stamp the sentiment in Versamark on the black cardstock. Sprinkle white Embossing Powder and shake off the excess then heat with your Heat Tool. Cut it out using the smallest of this shaped die from Something Fancy die set--you really do need this set as it has many great dies for cutting out sentiments.

Now fold your Thick Basic White card base in half along the score line. Stamp the inside sentiment before making the front of your card (in case you make a boo-boo, then you can fold it the other way and cover it up on the front). Attach the 1/2 inch strip of Dandy Designs DSP to the inside as below:

Now let's put the rest of the card together. Attach the Dandy Designs DSP to the front. Wrap the Parakeet Party Baker's Twine twice around the bottom part of the card and make a bow. Attach this piece using Dimensionals and then the sentiment with more Dimensionals. I used Glossy Dots  on the card on the left and Pastel Adhesive-Backed Sequins for the card on the right below.
