Changing Leaves with Baby Wipe Technique
It finally feels like autumn here in San Diego, and to me that means changing leaf colors. Last week the temperature was 106 degrees and today it is in the low 70's. The multi-color leaves above were brought to you by the Baby Wipe techniques, which is my favorite way to stamp fall leaves. The Changing Leaves bundle has the perfect leaves to use this technique as it works best with an open, lined image, as opposed to a solid colored in image. I've seen, and made, many beautiful cards using the dies and embossing folder from the Changing Leaves set, but today thought I would just use the stamp set. To best understand how to do the Baby Wipe technique, please watch my Facebook Live below and then come back every Monday at 1 pm PST and watch me make another card.
Let's make these cards! Gather your supplies:
1. Cherry Cobbler cardstock --Card base 5 1/2"" by 8 1/2" scored on the long side at 4 1/4"
2. Basic White cardstock-- 3 7/8" by 5 1/8" and a scrap cut by the Iconic Imagery dies for the sentiment. Another piece 3 3/4" by 5" for the inside.
3. Crushed Curry cardstock--a 4" by 5 1/4" piece
4. Splendid Autumn DSP--a piece 3/4" by 2 3/4" (it's the back of the DSP with the red-leaved trees)
5. Stamp Set--Changing Leaves
6. Dies--Iconic Imagery
7. Ink--Cherry Cobbler ink, Ink refills in Cherry Cobbler, Mossy Meadow, Pumpkin Pie, Crushed Curry and Blackberry Bliss
8. Natural Tones Linen Thread (for the card on the left)
9. Faux Glass Dots (for the card on the right)
10. Basic supplies--Bone folder, Paper Snips, adhesive (I like Multipurpose Glue and Seal+), Paper Trimmer, Take Your Pick Tool, Regular Dimensionals, Baby Wipes
For the Baby Wipe technique start by layering 2-3 baby wipes either on your Glass Mat or in a flat bottom pie plate or other plate. Then use your re-inkers (any colors you like, see mine above) to drop random dots of color on the Baby Wipes. Make the whole area on the Baby Wipe as large as the largest stamp you plan to use--you will not want to double stamp in this pretend ink pad or you will muddle your colors. This is how it should look when you are done--you don't want to leave white spots between your ink dots.
Stamp the stamp into the Baby Wipe ink pad and then on to the 3 7/8" by 5 1/8" piece of Basic White. Notice I stamped 3 times for the smaller leaves--be sure to clean off the stamp in between using it either with a cleaning cloth or just stamp it a few times on some scratch paper.
Also stamp a leaf on your inside piece.
Now stamp one of the sentiments using Cherry Cobbler on the Iconic Imagery die-cut and attach that to the 3/4" piece of DSP
Attach your stamped image to the piece of Crushed Curry cardstock and then to the card front. Attach the inside piece. For the card below wind a piece of the green Natural Tones Linen Thread around your 4 fingers three times. Attach Dimensionals to the back of the sentiment and then use the Dimensionals to hold the thread and the sentiment to the card.
For this card, attach the stamped piece to the piece of Crushed Curry cardstock and then to the card front. Attach the inside piece. Attach the sentiment with Dimensionals and then use 2 large and 1 small green Faux Glass Dots as in this picture.
