Fragrant Forest meets Falling Snow
I loved using the Fragrant Forest stamp set when it debuted last year--it looks so elegant stamped or even embossed--and I wanted to use it somehow differently this year to make it special. I was looking for a way to make snow on the trees. First I thought of using Embossing Paste, but that always gets messy, then I remembered I had bought the Falling Snow stamp set and realized that might look good, giving it a snowy look everywhere. And voila! That's how this card came about. I first stamped the trees in Shaded Spruce then embossed in white over them. It came out so cool--I love the way it looks like a snowy scene!
The Peaceful Seasons bundle has the perfect dies and sentiments to use on this card--you can even thread some ribbon through the dies if you wanted to (I didn't this time). And the Iridescent Faceted Gems add some sparkle to the snow.
Let's make this card! Gather your supplies:
1. Thick Basic White cardstock --Card base 5 1/2"" by 8 1/2" scored on the long side at 4 1/4"
2. Basic White cardstock-- scrap for the sentiment
3. Shaded Spruce cardstock--4" by 5 1/4" piece, can cut a sentiment piece out of the center or another piece
4. Basic Beige cardstock 3 7/8" by 5 1/8"
5. Stamp Sets--Fragrant Forest, Falling Snow, and Peaceful Season
6. Dies--Peaceful Season
7. Ink--Shaded Spruce, Versamark
8. Shaded Spruce 1/2" Satin & Sheer Ribbon
9. Iridescent Faceted Gems
10. Embossing supplies--Embossing Buddy, Versamark ink, White Embossing Powder, Heat Tool
11. Basic supplies--Bone folder, Paper Snips, adhesive (I like Multipurpose Glue and Seal+), Paper Trimmer, Take Your Pick Tool, Regular Dimensionals
Start by stamping the Fragrant Forest in Shaded Spruce on the Basic Beige cardstock. Let it dry a bit then emboss over it with the Falling Snow stamp set. Remember to use your Embossing Buddy over your dried trees, ink up the stamp with Versamark, stamp, spread the White Embossing Powder over the card. Tap off the excess embossing powder and heat it up with your Heat Tool and watch the magic! Stamp the sentiment with Shaded Spruce on the Peaceful Season die cut (be sure it is in the diamond, not square configuration). Attach it to the Shaded Spruce die cut as below. Stamp an inside sentiment in Shaded Spruce--I used one from Peaceful Season but forgot to take a picture.
