Frozen Edges

I haven't seen a lot of cards made with the Frozen Edges bundle and I saw Sandra Paul make a card using the dies like this on ornaments, so I had to try it myself. This is such a sleeper set in the Sept-Dec Mini Catalog, but it has some nice images.

Let's make this card. Gather your supplies:

1       Thick White cardstock—5 ½” by 8 ½” scored on the long side at 4 ¼” and folded in half on the score line

2        Regal Distressed Patterns DSP -3” by 5 ½”

3        Gold Foil— 1 ½” by 5 ½” cut with the Frozen Edges dies (gives you 2 pieces to work with). 2 pieces ½” by 3/8”

4        Basic White cardstock—4 1/4” by 5”. Another piece cut with the smaller rectangular Peaceful Season die

5        Gold & Silver 1/8” Combo Pack

6        Ink—Gold Embossing Powder, can use Wild Wheat for the inside if you want an inside sentiment

7        Stamp set and dies—Peaceful Season bundle, Frozen Edges and Stylish Shapes dies

8        So Swirly Embossing Folder

9        Gold Metallic Enamel Effects

10    Iridescent Foil Gems

Gold Metallic Enamel Effects

Run the 4 ¼” by 5” piece of Basic White cardstock through your Cut & Embossing machine inside the So Swirly Embossing Folder. Dab some Gold Metallic Enamel Effects on the swirls using a Sponge Dauber or small Blending Brush.

To cut the Gold Foil , put the flat edge of the Frozen Edges die about ¼” from the edge of the foil. This will give you 2 pieces to use on cards. Attach the flat end to the long edge of the Regal Distressed paper using Multipurpose Glue. Let the glue dry, then use the 2nd and 3rd largest Stylish Shapes circle to cut the ornament out putting the edge up against the edge of the paper. You can also use the Deckled Circle dies to cut out the ornaments.

Stick the small pieces of gold to the back of the top of the ornaments for the hangers. Cut the gold ribbon into 2 pieces—about 3” for the longer one and 2" for the shorter one and attach it to the back of the smaller hanger/ornament. Attach the other piece to the larger hanger/ornament and then attach the ornament to the embossed white piece. I attached the large one directly to the paper and the smaller one is up on Dimensionals. Attach the ribbon to the back using some Tear 'N Tape.  Attach that piece to the folded card base.

Emboss the sentiment on the smaller rectangle Peaceful Season die cut and attach to the card using Dimensionals. Attach one small and 2 large Iridescent Foil Gems to the card. Do whatever sentiment you’d like inside. I also used some of the snowflakes from the Frozen Edges stamp set to decorate the inside and the envelope.
