Feathered Fun Sneak Peek
Feathered Fun is a stand-alone stamp set from the 2024-5 Annual Catalog that has reversible stamps. That means you can turn the stamp over and stamp a solid image, then turn it back the "normal" way and stamp the rest of the image. If you watch my Facebook Live below, I showed many different ways you can stamp and color in this adorable parrot couple. The one we settled on doing above I colored with Blends.Let's make this card! Gather your supplies:
1. Granny Apple Green cardstock --Card base 8 1/2" by 5 1/2" scored at 4 1/4" and folded in half on the score line. Second piece 4" by 5 1/4"
2.Basic White cardstock--3 3/4" by 5" for the inside, another piece die cut with the second largest Textured Notes dies. A third piece about 4" by 5 1/4" for stamping the birds and the sentiment
3. Stamp sets--Feathered Fun, Blooming Phrases and Spotlight on Nature
4. Shades of Green Hexagons
5. Ink--Memento Black, Granny Apple Green. If you are going to use ink to color in the birds, I also used Blueberry Bushel and Lemon Lolly
6 Embossing Folder-Dotted Circles 3D
7. Blends--L/D Pumpkin Pie, L Peach Pie, Dark Lemon Lolly, L/D Granny Apple Green, L/D Blueberry Bushel
8. Basic supplies--Bone folder, Paper Snips, adhesive (I like Multipurpose Glue and Seal+), Paper Trimmer, Stamp, Cut and Emboss Machine, Take Your Pick Tool, Piercing Mat or Glass Mat Studio, Regular Dimensionals
Start by stamping the parrots on the 4" by 5 1/4" piece of Basic White. For the birds on the right (and the ones I used on the main picture above, I colored birds heads with D Lemon Lolly, around their eyes with L Peach Pie and their beaks with L/D Pumpkin Pie. Moving down the bird, I overlapped L/D Granny Apple Green and then the L/D Blueberry Bushel. For the birds on the left, I colored around their eyes and their beaks as above, then I used the same colors of ink and small Blending Brushes to color their bodies. Both work well. Now if you wanted to be more precise, you could spend a lot more time with your Blends coloring in individual feathers, but I wanted this to be a fast/easy card.
Fussy cut your birds close to the lines--I didn't leave white around like I usually do when fussy cutting as I didn't want to have to worry about going over the lines when using the Blending Brushes.

Using the large leaf stamp from Spotlight on Nature and Granny Apple Green in, I stamp a lot of leaves, some full strength and then again without reinking to get a lighter shade.
With what's left of the Basic White cardstock you cut the parrots out of, or a 1/2" scrap, stamp the word "happy" from Blooming Phrases and fussy cut it out too. I love this stamp set and how you can now use this card for a birthday or anniversary, or whatever you want it to be. Attach the sentiment to the leaf-stamped piece and then the birds using Dimensionals, as if they are sitting on a branch.
For the inside, stamp birthday or anniversary in Memento Black and a leaf in Granny Apple Green and attach this to the inside of your card.
Now to finish your card. Run the 4" by 5 1/4" piece of Granny Apple Green cardstock through your Cut and Emboss machine inside the Dotted Circles 3D embossing folder. Attach that to the front of your card and then attach the leaf piece using Dimensionals. Scatter 2 or 3 of the Shades of Green Hexagons around the front and you are done with your card. To make the matching envelope, put just the flap in the Dotted Circles EF and run it through your Cut and Emboss machine.
The picture on the left below I used my small Blending Brushes to do the birds, and then the largest Textured Notes dies to die cut a piece of the Floral Impressions DSP instead of the embossed piece to go under the Basic White cardstock. I think they are both great!
