Rosh Hashana Card

Now I am betting most of you do not have the new Mazel Tov stamp set from Stampin' Up, but you are going to need it if you want to send your Jewish friends a card for Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year, that starts the evening of 9/22/25 this year. On this holiday we wish each other "L'Shana Tovah", which means in English "to a sweet year".  We eat apples dipped in honey so that we start out the year sweetly also. Of course, you could make this card and use any sentiment you like on it. Here's what the stamp set looks like. As you can see, it can be used for other Jewish Holidays also.

Did you notice the DSP in the background on the card? That is the Irresistible Designs Specialty Designer Series Paper from the Annual Catalog (on page 116). It has 3 different already embossed designs on it and when you apply color they pop. If you look at the picture above, you can see the other 2 designs behind my card.

Let's make this card! Gather your supplies:

1. Lemon Lime Twist cardstock --Card base 4 1/4" by 11" scored at 5 1/2" and 6 3/4"" and folded in half on the first score line and back on the second one. Second piece 1" by 4"
2. Granny Apple Green cardstock--4 1/8" by 4 1/8". Second piece 1 1/8" by 4 1/8"
3. Basic White cardstock--4" by 4" for the inside, another piece die cut with the second largest Nested Essentials rectangle. A third piece about 2" by 3" for stamping the apple and honey
4. Irresistible Designs Specialty DSP--4" by 4" of the leaf design
5. Stamp sets--Mazel Tov and Unbounded Love
6. Dies--Nested Essentials
7. Pressed Flowers Embossing Folder
8. Shades of Green Hexagons
9. Ink--Basic Gray, Lemon Lime Twist and Granny Apple Green.
10. Watercolor Pencils 1 & 2 sets
11 Blender Pen and Blending Brushes
12. Basic supplies--Bone folder, Paper Snips, adhesive (I like Multipurpose Glue and Seal+), Paper Trimmer, Stamp, Cut and Emboss Machine, Take Your Pick Tool,  Piercing Mat or Glass Mat Studio, Regular Dimensionals, Tear 'N Tape

Start by folding the card in half and then back on itself on the second score line. Open up the card and put 2 rows of Tear 'N Tape on the 1 1/4" little folded area on the front, remove the backing and fold that shut--now you have your "book-binding" fold. You can also follow along on my Facebook Live from 8/4 or on YouTube (see link below) if you get lost in my directions. I am live Mondays at 1 pm PST.

Take your Irresistible Designs Specialty DSP and apply Lemon Lime Twist ink down the middle using a Blending Brush. Then use Granny Apple Green ink down both sides. Wipe off the excess that stuck to the embossed leaves with a paper towel or Kleenex. Attach this to the larger Granny Apple Green cardstock and then to the front of the card.

Run the small piece of Lemon Lime Twist through your Cut & Emboss machine inside the Pressed Flowers Embossing Folder. Attach that to the larger Granny Apple Green cardstock and attach to the left side of the card front as below.

Now stamp the sentiment in Basic Gray at the bottom of the Basic White Nested Essential piece. On a separate piece of Basic White stamp the apples and honey. I colored them with Crushed Curry, Daffodil Delight, Early Espresso, Granny Apple Green and Garden Green Watercolor Pencils (some from each of the boxes). Then to smooth out the coloring, I used the Blender Pen. If you don't have a Blender Pen, you need one! They come in a pack of two and last a long time.

Fussy cut out the apple and honey, attach it to the sentiment piece using Dimensionals, then attach that to the card. Scatter some of the  Shades of Green Hexagons around and you are done with the front.

For the inside, I stamped just the word peace from Unbounded Love on the 4" square of Basic White in Basic Gray. Attach this to the inside.

Here's another picture of the finished card.
