Something Old and Something New
with Flowers Fair
I thought today we'd try a different technique using the Flowers Fair large stamp. We haven't colored in a long time with our Watercolor Pencils, so I thought today might be a good day. Also a lot of products are on the Last Chance List, including the embossing folder I used on this card and my favorite punch, Heartfelt Hexagons. If you don't yet have this punch, run and place an order NOW as it is essential in my craft collection. Do it before it is discontinued and never seen again. I've also used some retiring embellishments that I colored with my Blends, another wonderful technique.
Let's make this card! Gather your supplies:
- Thick Basic White cardstock—card base 5 1/2" by 8 ½”, scored at 4 ¼” on the long side and folded along the score line
- Melon Mambo cardstock--2 3/4" by 5 1/2", second piece punched with the Heartfelt Hexagon punch
- Basic White cardstock--4 1/4" by 5 1/2", second piece 2 1/2" by 5 1/2", third piece punched with the Heartfelt Hexagon punch
- Stamp set--Flowers Fair, Scalloped Blooms
- Punch--Heartfelt Hexagon
- Embossing Folder--So Swirly
- Ink—Basic Gray, Melon Mambo
- Blends--Dark Melon Mambo
- Embellishments--Iridescent Foil Gems
- Watercolor Pencils--both sets
- Wink of Stella
- Basic supplies--Bone folder, Paper Snips, adhesive (I like Multipurpose Glue and Seal+), Paper Trimmer, Stamp, Cut and Emboss Machine, Take Your Pick Tool, Piercing Mat or Glass Mat Studio, Regular Dimensionals, Stampin' Positioner
Using Basic Gray. stamp the Flowers Fair image on the 2 1/2" by 5 1/2" piece of Basic White. I used my new Stampin' Positioner in my video below, but you could use an F block or your Glass Mat to stamp with. Now time to color--I used Melon Mambo for the big flowers, Rich Razzleberry and Daffodil Delight for the smaller ones and the bases of the big flower and Granny Apple Green for the leaves. For tips on coloring please watch my video below which is from my Monday Facebook Live that I upload afterwards to YouTube (as Facebook now erases them after a month).
Attach the above piece to the 2 3/4" by 5 1/2" piece of Melon Mambo, leaving equal borders on the sides. Blend the big flowers with your Wink of Stella. Put this aside to dry. Here's a close-up of the flowers:
Stamp the sentiment from Scalloped Blooms on the Basic White hexagon. Cut the Melon Mambo hexagon in half, along the landscape side. Put some glue on the top and bottom of the back of the sentiment piece and attach the Melon Mambo pieces, leaving a small border top and bottom as below.
Stamp the inside sentiment as below:
Run the 4 1/4" by 5 1/2" piece of Basic White through your Cut & Emboss machine inside the So Swirly embossing folder. Attach it to the card front. Attach the flower piece to the front, leaving about 1/2" of the white showing on the left. Attach the sentiment piece with Dimensionals.
Color 2 small and 1 large Iridescent Foil Gems with your Dark Melon Mambo Blend. Let them dry a bit then attach the 2 small ones under your sentiment and the larger one somewhere else on the card and you are done.
