Birthday Pretty Poinsettia Sneak Peek

The Pretty Poinsettia bundle comes out 7/1/26 as a new Online Exclusive. It has sentiments and dies for use on Christmas cards (who doesn't like Christmas in July?) but I wanted to show that it can be used for other cards also. I created it using my most favorite fun fold with the 2026-28 In Colors Hydrangea Hue, Peaceful Pine and Golden Glow with a touch of gold foil in the center of the flower to match the gold foil in the Bloom Boutique Designer Series Paper.

See the DSP on the bottom of the card? That is another sneak peek from the July Online Exclusives--Gingham Gallery DSP comes in a package with ALL the new In Colors. It has these little gingham squares on one side and larger squares on the back side of each paper. They will go with so many of your other papers.  Click on the little Robin Bird above to go to my Online Store and buy it (after July 1st of course).

The Pretty Poinsettia dies are made to be used with the new Impressions Plate. Using it lets you cut and emboss with just using the dies, kind of like the Hybrid Embossing Folders do, but you don't have to buy something else. The Impressions Plate works with all the Impressions Dies.

Let's make this card. Gather your supplies:

  1. Thick Basic White cardstock—card base 5 1/2" by 7 1/2"”, scored at 4 ¼” on the long side. Use the leftover piece for your sentiment.
  2. Bloom Boutique Specialty DSP--3" by 5 1/4"
  3. Heirloom Boutique Two-Toned cardstock--use about 4" by 5" to cut the poinsettia (see below)
  4. 2026-28 In Color Gingham Gallery DSP
  5. Peaceful Pine cardstock--cut one of the leaves and use the Impressions Plate on it.
  6. Gold Foil--cut the center pieces
  7. Stamp Set--Words & Wishes
  8. Dies--Pretty Poinsettia
  9. Three Banner Punch
  10. Ink—Peaceful Pine
  11. 2026-28 In Color Dots
  12. Basic supplies--Bone folder, Paper Snips, adhesive (I like Multipurpose Glue and Seal+), Paper Trimmer, Stamp, Cut and Emboss Machine, Take Your Pick Tool,  Piercing Mat or Glass Mat Studio, Regular Dimensionals, Impressions Plate, Spritzer
Start by cutting out the poinsettia from the Hydrangea Hue Two-Toned Cardstock. For deeper embossing, spritz the cardstock before cutting. Use the largest and 3rd largest dies and cut out on the darker side of the cardstock and then the lighter side to cut the 2nd and 4th largest dies. DO NOT TAKE THEM OUT OF THE DIES. Turn the dies upside down and emboss with the Impressions Plate. If you haven't used your Impressions Plates yet, look at the directions to get the plates correct. Or better yet, watch my Facebook Live video below where I show you how to use them. Then come back on Mondays at 1 pm PST for more cardmaking videos.

Attach the poinsettia pieces together with a dot of Multipurpose Glue in the center alternating the light and dark pieces. Use the larger of the gold center pieces on top. Cut the Peaceful Pine leaves in half.

Fold the card base along the score line. Attach the Bloom Boutique Specialty DSP piece to the front of the card and the gingham piece to the bottom of the inside, making sure they line up on the edges. Stamp the inside sentiment in Peaceful Pine.

Finish the front of the card by attaching the poinsettia and the leaves. Stamp the Happy Birthday from Words & Wishes in Peaceful Pine on your scrap left from cutting the card base. Punch it out using the Three Banner punch. Attach them to the front using Dimensionals. I used 3 of the In Color Dots to finish it off. On the card at the top I used the Golden Glow Dots and on the card below I used the Peaceful Pine ones. Which do you like better?
