Rosh Hashanah Card


Today I made a Rosh Hashanah (Jewish New Year) card using the Mazel Tov stamp set, that is still for sale on line in the Online Exclusives. The sentiment translates "to a good year", which is a traditional greeting at this time of year. This year Rosh Hashanah starts on the evening of 9/11, so get your cards to your Jewish friends soon. Here's what this stamp set looks like--it's great for multiple Jewish occasions.



On this card I also used the new Autumn Opulence Designer Series Paper that is just gorgeous, and uses one of my favorite Stampin' Up! colors, Blackberry Bliss. Let's make this card. Gather your supplies:

  1. Blackberry Bliss cardstock—card base 5 1/2" by8 1/2” scored at 4 1/4" on the long side and folded in half.  Second piece 4" by 5 1/4"
  2. Autumn Opulence DSP--2" by 5 1/4"
  3. Peaceful Pine cardstock--1/2" by 5 1/4". Die cut using the 3rd smallest Everyday Arch
  4. Very Vanilla cardstock--4" by 5 1/4" for the inside. Die cut using the 2nd smallest Everyday Arch
  5. Stamp Set--Mazel Tov, Stitched Stocking
  6. Ink— Blackberry Bliss, Versamark
  7. Calypso Coral with Copper Border Ribbon
  8.  Painted Patch Adhesive-Backed Dots
  9. Seasonal Cheer Mini Embossing Folder
  10. Embossing Supplies--Versamark, Embossing Buddy, Copper Embossing Powder, Heat Gun
  11. Basic supplies--Bone folder, Paper Snips, adhesive (I like Multipurpose Glue and Seal+), Paper Trimmer, Stamp, Cut and Emboss Machine, Take Your Pick Tool,  Piercing Mat or Glass Mat Studio, Regular Dimensionals, Tear 'N Tape
Run the 4" by 5 1/4" piece of Blackberry Bliss through your Cut and Emboss Machine inside the leaf Seasonal Cheer Mini Embossing Folder. As this folder is only 3" wide, you will want to put the paper so it is embossing the right side of the card. Attach this to your folded card base

Attach the Autumn Opulence DSP to the left side of the embossed piece, then the 1/2" piece of Peaceful Pine to the right side of the DSP, overlapping the edge a little bit. 

Emboss the sentiment on the Very Vanilla Everyday Arch die cut. Don't forget to use your Embossing Buddy first, before you stamp with the Versamark. Then spread Copper Embossing Powder over it all, tapping off the excess and then heat setting it with your Heat Gun. Attach this to the Peaceful Pine Everyday Arch.

Using a horizontal piece of Tear 'N Tape to attach it, make a wavy pattern with the Calypso Coral with Copper Border Ribbon. Attach the sentiment using Dimensionals.


For the inside sentiment stamp the sentiment  from Stitched Stocking in Blackberry Bliss on the large piece of Very Vanilla. Notice I didn't use the whole sentiment--I covered the bottom line (it was about Christmas) with washi tape before inking it up. Then remove the washi tape and stamp the sentiment. Attach this to the inside of the card.


Now attach one big and one small Calypso Coral Painted Patch Adhesive-Backed Dot to the front and you are done. Here's another picture of the finished card. Love it!

  3rd Charming Duck Pond Post This card is a modified gate-fold card as the left front is just 1 1/4". I love how you can use most of the page of the 6" by 6" piece of DSP scenery to make this card. Sometimes I use the back side for the little pieces, but this time I used a separate piece of DSP with just the rushes on it. Enjoy!

  Floating Christmas Tree So if you make a lot of holiday cards like I do, it is time to start working on them! I know, I know, we haven't had Halloween yet, but if you want to send them out before the holiday it is time to get working. And this lovely card was inspired by someone else (sorry I just took a picture of it but there was no name on it so I can't thank you) who used her scraps to make the tree. I took it one step further and made a floating scraps tree. I've been wanting to make a card with this technique for a while and I knew this tree would look fabulous like this. And the second bonus is that I got to use up a ton of Lights Aglow scraps, even the small ones. All you need to do is cut your scraps into 1/2" pieces, attach them to a piece of window sheet and then cut out whatever shape you like. Charming Duck Pond Fun Fold I suddenly realized that the Charming Duck Pond bundle and everything that went with it was on the Last Chance List and I had never played with mine, though I had it for months! And I had loved the colors in it and the myriad of cards others had made, so it was time to take it out of the wrapping and get going. Later this week, come back to my blog, as I made several other cards using this bundle. I find the ducks in their ponds with their babies so adorable, so I had to start by using one of those pieces of DSP.
