Two Inspiring Imperfections Cards
Today we will be making 2 cards using the Inspiring Imperfections bundle from the Kintsugi Suite of products in the Annual Catalog (pages 58-60). I was drawn to this set when I first saw it for multiple reasons--first of all the paper is to die for with the gold foiling on one side of each of the papers. Also, my husband and I have traveled a lot in Southeast Asia and love Asian art. And the third reason is that Kintsugi is a traditional Japanese technique of repairing broken pottery with gold lacquer. The gold veins don't hide the imperfections, but rather celebrate them. I think we should all be celebrating our individualism and imperfections.
Let's make these cards! I will refer to the card on the left as card #1 and the card on the right as card #2. Gather your supplies:
1. Petal Pink cardstock --Card base 4 1/4"by 8 1/2" scored on the long side at 4 1/4" and folded in half on the score line for card #1. Card base for card #2 is 4 1/4" by 11"
2. Misty Moonlight cardstock--2 3/4" by 3 7/8" and second piece 4" by 5 1/4" for card #1
3. Cloud Cover cardstock-- 2 3/4" by 3 7/8" for card #1
4.Basic White cardstock--each card needs a piece 4" by 5 1/4" for the inside
5. Kintsugi Inspirations Specialty DSP--card #1 3 7/8" by 3 7/8". For card #2 --2 pink pieces 1 1/4" by 4", blue and white piece 2 1/4" by 4". Need 2 flowers, 1 big and 1 small vase die cut from the DSP
6. Gold Foil--cut the 2 veins with the dies for card #2
7. Bundle--Inspiring Imperfections
8. Ink--Misty Moonlight
9. Low Profile Dots
10. Stampin' Write Markers--Misty Moonlight, Petal Pink and Lost Lagoon
11. Basic supplies--Bone folder, Paper Snips, adhesive (I like Multipurpose Glue and Seal+), Paper Trimmer, Stamp, Cut and Emboss Machine, Take Your Pick Tool, Piercing Mat or Glass Mat Studio, Regular Dimensionals
Here's a closer picture of card #1 that we will make first. Start by folding your card base in half. Attach the 3 7/8" DSP square to the center of the bigger piece of Misty Moonlight.
Place the other (smaller) piece of Misty Moonlight under the piece of Cloud Cover and tear towards you horizontally/starting on the 2 3/4" side. Now glue the Misty Moonlight pieces to the under side of the Cloud Cover pieces, off-setting them about 1/8" or so. You want the Misty Moonlight to be showing like above. Then attach one to the top and one to the bottom of the bigger Misty Moonlight piece, being sure to let the same small margin show all the way around. If this gets confusing, watch my Facebook Live below and you will learn even more tips and tricks for making these cards.
Color just the word thanks from the sentiment stamp using your Misty Moonlight Stampin' Write Marker. Huff on the stamp and stamp on the bottom of your card front. Actually doing this before attaching it to the card is even better. Now attach this to your card.
For the inside, we are going to stamp the flower on the Basic White cardstock. Color the top of the flower with a Petal Pink Stampin' Write Marker and the leaves/stem with a Lost Lagoon marker. Be sure to huff on the stamp prior to stamping. Attach this to the inside of your card.
Scatter some of the gold Low Profile Dots on the front and you are done.

Card #2 is a fun fold card.
Start by cutting your card base down to 4 1/4" by 8 1/2". The piece you cut off becomes part of the front of your card. Score the card base 1 1/2" from each of the long ends and fold them toward the middle. Attach the 2 pink pieces of DSP to those ends. Attach the blue/white/gold DSP to the piece of Petal Pink you cut off the card base. Attach the 2 vases to this--I popped the smaller one up on Dimensionals
Glue the 2 pieces of gold foiled veining to the top and bottom folded parts. Attach the piece with the vases to just the top folded piece with Dimensionals.
For the inside, set the Basic White piece inside the card and close up the card. Don't glue this down yet in case you make a mistake stamping. With the card closed, stamp the sentiment using Misty Moonlight ink. Now go ahead and attach the inside piece.
